Skill Lab – Empowering Students for Future Careers
Since 2022, the Skill Lab at Sir Issac Newton College of Engineering and Technology, Pappakovil-Nagapattinam has been at the forefront of nurturing student skills, bridging the gap between academic learning and practical expertise. The lab plays a crucial role in preparing students for both industry and career opportunities, ensuring they are well-equipped to meet global challenges.
First Year: The program introduces students to fundamental technical knowledge across all departments, helping them build a solid foundation in engineering principles and critical thinking.
Second Year: Focus shifts to domain-specific skills, where students engage in hands-on training within their respective departments. Additionally, students are encouraged to explore their areas of interest, fostering creativity and self-driven learning.
Third Year: The Skill Lab organizes industry-oriented training programs, designed to meet the evolving needs of the workforce. These programs expose students to real-world applications, enabling them to develop problem-solving and professional skills.
Final Year: Students participate in industry-focused skill development programs, enhancing their employability and preparing them for interviews, internships, and career opportunities.
Before each program, students are provided with sample exercises and guidelines, ensuring clear understanding of objectives and outcomes. After the program, skill assessments and evaluations are conducted, and results are published on the student portal, allowing students to track their progress and identify areas for improvement.
Through this structured, year-wise approach, the Skill Lab ensures continuous development, helping students align their academic knowledge with practical skills. Over the years, many students have successfully transformed from the lab to internships, projects, and placements in top companies, reflecting the program’s effectiveness.
The Skill Lab continues to innovate and expand its offerings, introducing new workshops, training sessions, and collaborative projects with industry partners to equip students with future-ready skills.
